Grey Matter

Works in Jan’s Totems series present icons, objects, and scenes as metaphors for reflection on current events and themes relevant to contemporary living.

Grey Matter is a metaphorical self-portrait of the artist, offering a personal totem for Jan which to reflect on the state of his own mind, as members of his immediate family cope with a brain injury and old age, and the gift of and quality of shared consciousness he was given.
