Solid was part of 2018 show that kicked off a new direction in Jan’s paintings, toward ‘whorl'-like forms, giving rise to his Synchrony Series, as with Grey Matter, which was composed in the same session.
Solid is a meditation on materials, process, and the feeling of being a planet floating through the void; brimming with dynamism, settling into one’s smooth, solid, steady orbit.
