Works in Jan’s Totems series offer icons, objects, and scenes to serve as metaphors for reflection on current events and themes relevant to contemporary living, and works in his Market Makers series reflect on the role that branding, marketing, and social media have played in our lives.

True Grit appropriates a mid-century American advertisement in American red, white, and blue. Featured in Sotheby’s luxury magazine publication in September 2015 announcing Jan’s debut as a solo artist. Another tonal meditation on his American experience, True Grit is also a reflection on the tenacity and grit it takes to ‘move the needle’ on major global markets .. like those for everyday health and beauty products, and those for fine and performance art.
